Hello fellow 8 Mile ninjas! 
This is Jamie coming at you with nutrition tips to help you be the best version of you! I will be posting a monthly blog that will include advice, recipes & supplement reviews that can help improve your performance in the gym.
This is my first blog so I wanted to start out with something everyone could benefit from, water intake.

One of the first questions I like to ask someone who is reaching out to me for nutrition advice is, how much water do you drink? I usually get the, “I know it’s not enough but….”, answer. Here’s the deal, water is an essential part of your life, so why aren’t you drinking more? I’ve heard all the excuses and I haven’t heard one yet that makes me question my own beliefs as to why water intake isn’t a number one priority. I am going to throw down some facts that will help you understand the importance of getting enough H2O.

FACTS ON WATER:

-Composes 75% of your brain

-Makes up 83% of your blood.

This is super important for the endurance portion of Crossfit. Water is made up of oxygen, and oxygen helps you breathe. The more oxygen you have in your blood the better you can breathe, the faster more superhero like you can be

-Cushions your joints. Now we all know Nick makes us do a whole lot of strength work, which sometimes our joints hate. Drink more water and cushion those joints so they are happy, healthy & pain free


-Removes waste. People, this is important!! Not to get too personal, but we need to go number two at least EVERYDAY. This is our bodies only way to remove toxins. The more water equals less waste/toxin build up in us. This means a lighter you, and we know what that means…..faster ninja like characteristics!!


-Water helps your body absorb nutrients. We all need as many nutrients as possible, we are athletes. The more nutrients your body absorbs, the better you will recover from the hellish workouts

-Ok, last one. Your muscles are composed of 75% water, that’s HUGE! These guys are what gets us through our training, so drink up & help them grow so you can be stronger.
Women, you should be getting a minimum of 2-3 liters a day. Fellas should take in 3-4 liters a day. Let the chugging begin! The Open is in 2 weeks, get ahead on the water game so you’ll be ready to kick some major butt the 8 Mile way.
