Your CrossFit Story:

This is such an honor. I wasn’t sure I wanted to accept this because I can think of so many people at 8 Mile that are so awesome, but I have to say, it makes me pretty happy! Thank you!

I got started at Crossfit 8 Mile in early 2016. Kristie had already been doing Crossfit for at least one year. It was “Bring-A-Friend Day” and I have to say I was hooked after that first class. Everyone was suffering through the same workout together. There was something awesomely fun about that. I loved it.

I was so out of shape. I couldn’t even do one pull-up. I had an awesome dad bod going and had absolutely no cardio. I had never done any Olympic lifting and had no idea what I was doing, but I was having lots of fun. I’m still having fun.

Why you continue to do CrossFit:

The 8 Mile community is what keeps me coming back day after day. This is my hobby, my social time, my therapy. If I miss too many days in a row, I have withdrawals. I’m hooked.

Favorite Movements:  My thing is bodyweight movements.  Pull-ups, push-ups, air squats, bear crawls, Bulgarian split squats, Pistols, wall walks, T2B , rope climbs, and my favorite BURPEES! I think we should have a 20-minute class of just burpees.

Least Favorite Movements: I’m not such a great lifter. In fact, most of the time, I lift ladies’ RX weights.  I’m strong overhead and I love the push press. Cleans and Snatches I’m not so great.

Goals:

Some of my goals are handstand push-ups, handstand walks, and double unders. Also, I would love to have some nice connecting Muscle ups.

I’m lucky to have someone in my home with like-minded health goals. Kristie Cruse, thank you for keeping us on track 80 % of the time lol. Thank you to my friends at crossfit for giving me people to chase and strive to be like. Thank you to my coaches for encouraging me to keep trying, teaching me good form, keeping me safe, and making fitness fun. Also, a big thank you to Mark for helping me with my nutrition. You’re awesome!
