The Reason(s)

Everyone’s Why

“Hey, I’m Nick.”

That’s typically how I introduce myself when I meet someone new. I don’t lead with my “life stats” like occupation or that I own a business or the size of my family. When people find out that I do CrossFit or that I own a CrossFit gym, they immediately feel the need to blurt out why they don’t do CrossFit or why they do or don’t workout. Even people that I use to train that now do other forms of fitness sometimes feel that they have to lie or hide what they currently do. My question is, are you happy? Are you finding the results you want? Are you growing as an individual? If the answer is yes, THEN GREAT!! Keep doing it. I am happy for you.

Everyone can do CrossFit, but CrossFit is not for everyone.

We all have reasons for choosing what we do. I pursued kicking boxing and competing in brazilian jiu-jitsu because I needed to fill that competitive void after organized sports. I got hooked on CrossFit because my body was in shambles from kick boxing and BJJ (shocker, I know). It filled that missing part of my athletic mind of training for a reason and that locker room, team camaraderie feel. Over the last 7 years my reasons have changed for why I not only do CrossFit but have it involved with so much of my life. Now it’s health, injury prevention, job carry over, and providing for my family. We have 100+ members who have 100+ different reasons why they do CrossFit. I’m just happy they choose to do it at  8 Mile.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” css_animation=””][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”19073″ alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline” qode_css_animation=””][vc_column_text]“Working out as a class motivates me to push myself further than I normally would. I’ve stayed with 8 Mile because everyone there makes you feel like a big family.

I stay at CrossFit 8 Mile simply because I can now achieve things I never could without great coaches.”

I stay in 8 Mile because it was the first place where I felt like I belonged since coming to Michigan.”

It is my second family and favorite friends. The community that this gym has is second to none”

Its not ESPN and The Games. Though there is that avenue for those that want it. For some CrossFit is a sport and training to compete. For some it’s created an avenue to compete in olympic weightlifting, or strongman, or figure shows. Whether the reason is to be able to run around with your kids, to get off medications, or rehab from a surgery, they all coexist to make up our community and why CrossFit is so special. No one reason is better or greater than anyone else’s. I feel (I’m bias) that our staff and our community really drive that home and it has created the great training environment that people come to every day.

So, What’s your reason?

My goals were to gain strength and to do whatever it took to remain free from the prescription meds that nearly all my family has taken for diabetes and blood pressure.

I have stayed with CrossFit and specifically at 8 Mile because 1) I met my goals and am the strongest I’ve been in my life 2) the coaches are top notch and coach every athlete 3) the gym is a community and the members like my family and 4) it’s the best therapy around. Love this place and the people.”

I changed because I felt I wasn’t getting the coaching and development I felt I needed. I have been a member for 4 years and I stay not only because of the outstanding coaches but because it is not just a gym but a family. “

Why I stay at 8 mile:  Several reasons honestly.  1) I feel I’ve built some great relationships with other gym members and truly enjoy working out with them.  2) The workouts designed by the coaches are well rounded and force me to do things that I would have just skipped back in the day.  3) The coaches themselves – they all have a genuine interest in teaching you the right techniques so that you don’t injure yourself and make as much progress as possible.”
