The aim of CrossFit is to forge a broad, general and inclusive fitness. After looking at all sport and physical tasks collectively, CrossFit’s creators asked themselves what physical skills and adaptations would most universally lend themselves to performance advantage. To summarize, our specialty is not specializing.
CrossFit is many things. Primarily, it’s a fitness regimen developed by Coach Greg Glassman over several decades. CrossFit optimizes fitness through constantly varied functional movements performed at relatively high intensity. CrossFit is also the community that spontaneously arises when people do these workouts together. In fact, the communal aspect of CrossFit is a key component of why it’s so effective.
Each class will be run by a certified CrossFit 8 Mile coach. Class length typically runs approximately 1 hour, but may vary depending on the speed at which the workout is completed.
Each class will be broken down into various components, consisting of a thorough warmup/stretch period, a strength period, and finally, the workout of the day (called the WOD).
Each class is pre-determined ahead of time by a certified 8 Mile coach (this is called programming the workout). Having a coach program the workouts for you makes sure that your fitness path is well rounded, and that you are receiving a challenging, but safe, workout.
At CrossFit 8 Mile, we invest in the best equipment for our members. Our facilities include the following equipment:
At CrossFit 8 Mile, you can expect a clean, organized environment. While things can get pretty hectic during a workout, all of the weights and equipment are returned to their places before the next class.
At CrossFit 8 Mile, kids are welcomed. While kids cannot participate in classes with the adults, they are provided a separate room to play in while you work out in the next room, within eyeshot and earshot. The children’s room does have toys and a tv for entertainment.
