Shane is a puppy. Every time he walks in the gym his energy is infectious. Just like when you get home and your doggy is so excited to see you that their butt’s wag! Shane is constantly seeking ways in which to get better. He’s first to show up and last to leave. He’s diligent about writing his daily journal and recording his numbers. Shane takes on challenges and has no fear of failure. He’s got the patience to know that maybe he didn’t hit it today, but he will one day. Those around him undeniably feed off his energy. Shane is still in his CrossFit infancy he will eventually learn not to go 100% on the first round of every workout haha. He’s all heart all the time.

Shane’s Story:

Before joining 8 mile I played a couple sports in high school and had heard of CrossFit but never really knew what it was all about. It wasn’t until a buddy of mine claiming I would love it after explaining to him that I had lost motivation to work out on my own and had been up to nothing but work and school the past year that I even considered it. Though I was hesitant at first eventually I came round and said to hell with it I’ll give it a try I’m supposed to be trying new things as it is anyways. When my buddy told me I would love it I don’t think either of us knew at the time how much I actually would but boy was he right. I’m talkin beyond love! I couldn’t tell you the last time I truly enjoyed showing up somewhere day after day and it stretches far beyond just the fitness aspect of crossfit. The sense of community is truly amazing and something I have never experienced before in such a short amount of time.

Why He’s at 8 Mile:

The members and coaches without a doubt make 8 mile an exceptional facility and since I walked through those doors this past October it has been the best decision I have made to date. For that I will always be grateful. As for goals and accomplishments I don’t have anything to specific in mind other than consistently showing up 5-6 days a week and TRUSTING THE PROCESS haha. I participated in my very first open this year and am excited to see whatever progress I will have made in the next one solely by staying committed and having fun which 8 mile makes so easy. I wouldn’t change a thing! Where I draw inspiration and motivation? I would have to hand this over to all six coaches and one soon to be coach come the fall! Over the course of the past six months since joining 8 mile I have noticed each of these individuals display a true passion for what they do. Each one having talents and attributes unique to them whether it be strength, speed, technique, guts, confidence, dedication, knowledge, or experience. They are a phenomenal group of people to surround yourself with, learn from, and trust. So none of you better have plans to leave 8 mile or I will be sad! Also this concept usually helps me and that’s It’s always good to remember we always have the time it’s not going anywhere but your drive, determination, persistence, and patience is what can slip away if you let it.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
